Yay!
Maj (more commonly know to most as my mother but I call her Majer as in 'Austin Powers' Fajer'...and yes I call my father 'Fajer') comes up to me the other day and says: "Hails, crazy high school friend has invited us to her 50th in Slaap Stad at the end of April. Are you going to be able to come with me? I know you've only ever been to Stellies so it'll be a great opportunity for you to see Slaap Stad, see your friend PPJ that's just moved down there, and we can bond. "
Yes people. I have only ever been to Cape Town once, and that one time I was only in the airport and only got to see Table Mountain's arse end from the freeway, before trekking to Stellies for a work conference.
So I think about it. Oppikoppi's 'Not Quite Easter' Festival is that same weekend. Oppi = dust, camping, dirty, dodgy personal hygiene facilities, dust, asthma attacks, more dust. But it also = some of the raddest musicians and bands SA has to offer - along with it being an all round jol when one doesn't have lungs coated in dust and isn't off spraying the shit out of your inhaler something chronic (asthma). ha.
Slaap Stad = bonding with the Majer who's been having a rather tough time of late, seeing my beloved and crazed friend PPJ, checking out the talent pool Slaap Stad has to offer as opposed to the currently stagnant, mosquito-infested, talent pool as Jozi has become of late. It also = jolling, a little bit of dopping, all round happiness and with that brings the negative aspect - it'll probably cost me a shitload of money.
Flights. Jolling. Seeing all the pretty things in stores we could only wish to have in Jozi. Going up Table Mountain and doing the whole tourist thing. hmmm.
At least I'll have just been paid. But then again I will probably be broke for the rest of May.
I think I've decided. Although Oppi is going to be a cracking time and I'll be über bleak to miss out, the 'proper' fest is only in August. By then I will have arranged a dust mask, booked myself into the the tented 'Kreef Hotel' and found a spooning partner.
Slaap Stad it is. I'm pretty darn excited. As excited as I am for Kat and I to make a spectacle of ourselves at the 2nd SA vs. Aus ODI at Supersport Park this Sunday.
We shall be doing so in our Green SA Speedo Bikini's (which reminds me I have to go to gym everyday for the next 3 days and do a zillion sit ups, leg extensions and crunches in preparation) and cowboy hats (dont ask me why we need the cowboy hats because I'm not entirely sure, although they are Cuervo ones so that may explain it?), drinking Castle in the sunshine, 'cos that's what you do at the cricket/rugby. Look out for us.
I am not, however, looking forward to the moerse hangover I expect to have at the office on Monday post cricket.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to attempt to seem productive in this environment. Joy.
P.S HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAJER. I ♥ you, you old ballie.
